Poured out

"beware of anything that competes with your loyalty to Jesus Christ. the greatest competitor of true devotion to Jesus is the service we do for Him. it is easier to serve than to pour out our lives completely for Him." oswald chambers

we fool ourselves into believing that if we are doing "good things" then we are pleasing God. God is not at all impressed by our service for service sake. but He does love it when we make ourselves available to Him to do whatever He needs us to do. this week i have been stuck in bed with my foot up. i can't go any where or do anything. i have had to have people bring me food and water and medicine and books and anything else i wanted or needed. ken has been wonderful to wait on me and take care of me. he has also done some things around the house that needed doing. i appreciate all his efforts, but i'm especially blessed when i ask for something and he immediately drops what he's doing and goes and does that for me. i really noticed the difference the other night when someone else was here and i asked them for something and they didn't do it right away. they did do it later and i was grateful, but they were not willing to put aside what they were doing and do what i needed when i asked for it. how often do i do that to God? He asks me to do something for Him and i continue to do my thing and put what He wants on hold. i may do it later (or maybe not) but i put my desires ahead of His. that's not laying down my life. I repent of that Father, and i'm available for whatever You need me to do today even if i can't walk, some of my brothers and sisters can't ever walk, i'm blessed Father.

Your daughter
